Indian Classical Music comes to Brighton in its finest and most exhiliarating form. A rare opportunity to see two masters of this genre perform in an intimate and beautiful venue in central Brighton. Sitar and tabla played in the North Indian Hindustani tradition consisting of Raag (melody) and Taal (rhythm). Born on January 21,1962, Partha Bose was initiated to the Sitar at the age of six and thereafter underwent intensive training in the tradition of Guru-Shishya parampara under the tutelage of Pandit Monoj Shankar of the famous Maihar Gharana. Partha has received overwhelming appreciation from connoisseurs and critics of Hindustani classical music in India and abroad over two decades now. One of the leading exponents of the Tabla is Calcutta born maestro Shiv Shankar Ray. Not only a performer but also a very respected teacher, he represents the Farukkabadi style of playing, which is amongst the oldest of the authentic styles. He studied under the renowned late Pandit Jnan Prakash Ghosh of Calcutta. PROFITS will go to ROKPA.. see rokpauk.org
