+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
AFTER RESERVING YOUR TICKET(S) at the bottom left of this page, SEND CONNIE LEEPER AN EMAIL at cjkleeper@hotmail.com, WITH YOUR SELECTION of the TWO table topics most useful to each of those attending along with your organization's name. Each table is limited to 8 participants and each organization is limited to 4 registrants for all the tables.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Then come engage in a constructive conversation with your peers and professional consultants. You’ll also have the chance to share your experiences, what’s worked well (or not) for you and the help you can give or need to receive.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Table Topics (NOTE: For participation please select two table topics for each person who is attending for your organization):
THIS TABLE IS FULL AND CLOSED
1) Effective Board Recruitment Strategies
Board development begins with sound policies and practices for identifying board members who bring the passion, skills, and talents that can best promote your organization. Come explore proven techniques in choosing a “working” board.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
THIS TABLE IS FULL AND CLOSED
2) Building and Sustaining Board Commitment
The #1 reason people give for joining a board is a belief in the organization’s mission. The challenge is translating an ideal into an ongoing, meaningful connection to the realities of organizational life, for both new and longtime board members.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
THIS TABLE IS FULL AND CLOSED
3) Strengthening Board Committees
Committees are the main vehicle for carrying out the board’s work. The focus will be on the best ways to structure committees so that the work is accomplished effectively and efficiently, and board members feel rewarded for their efforts.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
4) Managing Difficult Board Members
We recruit board members for their abilities and their accomplishments, but sometimes we get more than we bargained for. Let’s examine how to maximize board members’ strengths while minimizing their negatives.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
THIS TABLE IS FULL AND CLOSED
5) Establishing Realistic Expectations of the Board
Many executives believe their board members are ignorant of or unwilling to perform their prescribed duties. Take this opportunity to discuss practical strategies for clarifying board responsibilities and the role of the board President in particular.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
THIS TABLE IS FULL AND CLOSED
6) The Board’s Role in Friend/Fund-Raising
For most nonprofits, the board must participate actively in obtaining the resources the organization needs to survive and thrive, yet many board members are uncomfortable doing so. Resolving this dilemma is at the heart of this conversation.
