'Critical Changes to Caltrans Section 39 Asphalt Specifications'
Significant changes to Caltrans asphalt specifications have been made in the last year. There are new requirements for contractors and public owners. What you don't know could cost you!
Who should attend? Contractors, suppliers, estimators, engineers, QC managers, plant managers, city & county public works representatives and anyone with an interest in the latest information on asphalt technology and specifications as they relate to public works projects.
How can I register? Space is limited so this class is on a first-come, first served basis. Pre-registration is required and must be completed on-line.
Online Registration: Register online using the "Register Now!" tool in the right sidebar of this webiste. Once you complete the registration process, you will receive a confirmation number and a confirmation notice via e-mail. You may pay on-line via credit card or by check. Payment must be received by the class date. Call CalAPA at (916) 791-5044 if you have any questions.
How much does it cost to attend? Registration fees for those classes will be $49 for CalAPA Members, $49 for public agency representatives, and $69 for all others. Not sure if your company is a member? Click here for a list of CalAPA member companies.
Where is the seminar being held? The seminar will be held at the Caltrans District 2 Office Building, Basement Conference Room, 1657 Riverside Drive in Redding. There's plenty of free parking.
What time is the seminar? The seminar will begin at 10 a.m. sharp, and ends at 3 p.m.. Check-in opens at 9:30 a.m.

BONUS! Each attendee will receive a valuble reference binder that contains comprehensive information on Section 39, highlights the new changes, and provides backround material, samples, checklists, official forms and more.
Who is the instructor? The lead instructor is Paul Curren, P.E., (pictured), Senior Principal Engineer for Pavement Engineering, Inc., and a noted expert on state and local asphalt pavement specifications, testing, mix designs and QC/QA. He'll provide real-world, objective information that includes ample attention to the perspective of both the owner and the contractor. The curriculum for this class was reviwed and approved by the CalAPA Education Committee: Tim Denlay with Knife River, Jack Van Kirk with George Reed, Inc. and Tracy Zubek with DeSilva Gates Materials.

Representing the asphalt pavement industry in California.
The California Asphalt Pavement Association (CalAPA) represents companies involved with the California hot mixed asphalt (HMA) pavement system. Members include HMA producers, asphalt refiners, paving contractors, testing labs, consulting engineers and product suppliers. CalAPA members operate facilities in every part of the state, from Crescent City to El Centro. CalAPA works closely with Caltrans, local agencies, university researchers and regional and national industry associations. CalAPA members and activities reflect a broad, comprehensive base of knowledgeable resources available to assist its members, the industry and all others interested in asphalt pavements. CalAPA is dedicated to serving the HMA industry and improving California's asphalt pavement infrastructure.
