Omar Mohammedi is the founder and managing partner of the Law Firm of Omar T. Mohammedi, LLC (OTMLAW), which was established in 1998. On October 2002 Omar Mohammedi was appointed by Mayor Michael Bloomberg to become the first Muslim and Arab New York City Commissioner on Human Rights. One of his responsibilities is to enforce the New York City Human Rights Law.

Mr. Mohammedi is active in many legal and professional associations. He is a member of the Association of the Bar of New York City and served on the International Trade Committee. He is also a founder of the Association of Muslim American Lawyers (AMAL). Mr. Mohammedi has lectured the legal and business communities at numerous domestic and international conferences, on legal issues involving international business and investment contracts, arbitration, not-for-profit law, civil rights, and Islamic estate planning.
