Exploring Transitions 
Leader: Beth Ann Short MA, ATR-BC
Art therapy is for anyone.  In this on-going insight-oriented workshop, participants will explore fine art media with the support of the leader, while using gentle prompts, thematic suggestions or quotes to inspire the art process.  These meetings are designed for individuals looking for a place to explore their own creativity while also engaging in a supportive community atmosphere.  Expect warm-up art projects, discussion and reflection on art pieces and process.
Art pieces will be completed within each meeting.  Media to be utilized may include but is not limited to all drawing materials, collage, paint and found objects.
Adults only.
Cost: $25 per group + $5 materials fee
Thursdays from 6:30-9pm

Beth Ann Short grew up around Great Lakes region, living in both Michigan and Ontario throughout her youth. Short, strongly influenced by her mixed ancestry, is proud to claim all humankind as her people. A strong lover of art history Short's work in fine art as well as in her clinical role as an art therapist radiates her desire to relate to all individuals with respect and honor. Her goal in her roles as artist, art therapist, art educator and officiant: to support individuals honoring their creative process while providing opportunities for healing and growth in any facet of their lives.

Short has a Masters in Art Therapy from Marylhurst University and is a nationally registered & board certified Art Therapist (ATR-BC) with the Art Therapy Credentials Board and a member of the American Art Therapy Association. Short has also shown her art nationally since the 90's, but has been making art since she was a small child. Short worked in Portland, OR in community mental health for eight years before creating her version of open studio art therapy. Since 1997, Short has experience in working with groups, families and individuals. Her clinical background specializes in Art Therapy, although Short has also been trained in traditional verbal methodologies, Family Therapy, Sand Tray Therapy and Photo Therapy. Short has worked with groups, couples, families and individuals.

Short is also a credentialed officiant with the Universal Life Church honoring all faiths in her work joining couples in an everlasting bond.

Creative solutions can be found in a community setting with others who may be experiencing similar struggles. Creativity can also be a soothing process. Take care of your self while expressing frustrations and finding community in a safe and supported setting. Participants in groups or workshops will explore fine art media with the support of a seasoned leader, while using gentle prompts or thematic suggestions to inspire the creative process.

All class fees are due at registration!
