Scratch Animation Class Leader: Bryson Hansen Adult Class (16 & Older welcome) Scratch
animation, also known as direct animation, is a technique in which
footage is produced by physically manipulating a filmstrip for
projection, rather than creating a film by photographing frame by frame
with a camera. This means painting, scratching, burning, or any other
form of physical manipulation, directly on to the celluloid. This class
is a look into direct animation history, as well as an actual direct
film workshop. Students will be given a look into direct film’s roots
and development, as well as creating their very own scratch films to
take home.
