As a rule, if we think of the Paschal Mystery at all, we think of it as something Jesus did a really long time ago on our behalf. Jesus traversed The Paschal Mystery – He passed from life to death to new life…. and as a result, we were saved.
This understanding of the Paschal Mystery would have us gather in churches during Holy Week – in order to memorialize Jesus. There is something comforting about imagining Jesus enduring the
Paschal Mystery for us. But what if this simply is not the way that it works. What if the Paschal Mystery is the way of love?
