Prior to the beginning of His public ministry, Jesus Christ was led into the wilderness to be tempted by Satan. Each time Satan presented the most attractive objects in his arsenal, Jesus responded by quoting the Word of God. His responses began with a simple statement: “It is written.” This statement provides the theme of Doctrinal Conference 2011. In a society that has been “tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine,” it is vital that the people of God stand firm to truth (Ephesians 4:14). This conference will help pastors, church leaders, and saints deepen their understanding and commitment to the doctrines taught in the Word of God.
The guest speakers for DC 11 are Rev. Daniel Segraves, Rev. David Norris, and Rev. Errin Bryant. Bro. Segraves, the dean of administration and academic dean of Urshan Graduate School of Theology, will be kicking off the conference on Thursday night by teaching on the subject “The Authority of Scripture.” During his other sessions, Bro. Segraves plans to delve into the plethora of references to the Messiah in the Book of Psalms and also discuss the importance of the Old Testament in a session titled “The Bible of the First Century Church.”
Bro. Norris has taught in Bible colleges since 1984 and has been the professor of Biblical Theology at Urshan Graduate School since 2001. He plans to focus upon the importance of the Name of Jesus, the significance of covenant relationship and practical advice for sharing doctrinal truths. His sessions will feature several interactive activities, including skits and audience participation.
Bro. Bryant, the leader of the Spanish Evangelism Ministries Administration of the Home Missions Division of the UPCI, will be conducting the Spanish track, with sessions in Spanish on Friday and Saturday. Bro. Johns will also be teaching one of the day sessions on Friday afternoon, focusing on the importance of having “This and That” if a church is going to experience true revival.
