Event Hosted By
Friends of History at Portland State University
The PSU Friends of History is the non-profit support organization for the
Department of History at Portland State University. Now in its 27th year of service to the PSU community and to the city; the Friends of History presents or co-sponsors several free programs each year in addition to the annual Endowed Lecture in History which is held in the Spring term.

The 2009-2010 season will be the FOH's busiest season of offering free programs to students, scholars and the general public , as two dozen prgrams will have been produced or co-sponsored by Summer 2010. The most recent roster includes: the inaugural exhibition of Dorothea Lange's 1939 Photographs of Rural Oregon in the Great Depression, the PSU premier of Ivy Lin's documentary on Portland's early chinese imigrants "Come Together Home', a salute to the Japanese-American veterans of the 442nd Regimental Combat Team in World War II, an Environmental History Forum held at PSU, a special program on the History of American Space Exploration held on the 40th Anniversary of the Apollo 13 Mission, a special program on the last Queen of Hawaii, Lili'uokalani by Elinor Langer, a survey of Early Norwegian shipbuilding and discovery, a very special "Juneteenth" event and more.

The Friends of History is a charter member of the Oregon Lincoln Bicentennial Commission and a proud supporter of the Oregon Historical Society. Our volunteers use our history-based events and outreach to elucidate and empower the public and we have forged many working coalitions to achieve this goal.
