Biochemist, biologist, and unconventional philosopher, Rupert has set the cat of instinct among the pigeons of science, ever since the publication of his first book in 1981, A New Science of Life: the Hypothesis of Morphic Resonance. Labelled a heretic and pseudoscientist by the scientific establishment, Rupert continues to question received scientific wisdom which he finds can be every bit as dogmatic as religious orthodoxy. His book, The Science Delusion is published in January 2012.

Burgh House is also home to the Hampstead Museum, with over 3,000 objects relating to art and life in Hampstead. A permanent display is located on the first floor, tracing Hampstead history from prehistoric times to the modern day.

The licensed Buttery cafe serves delicious lunches, mouth watering teas and weekend brunch. Book early to sample their famous Sunday roast!
